Mike is an 8-time PBA regional champion, whose love for the sport of bowling has guided him to be a successful pro shop owner.
Born in Ohio, Mike says he got to Texas "as fast as I could!" He has lived in Houston for almost 40 years. He spent a couple of years in Oklahoma, but quickly found his way back to the Lone Star State and back to being a pro shop owner.
A 2006 Houston Hall of Famer, Mike has numerous USBC and PBA 300 games to his credit. He has been in the pro shop business since 1985. He enjoys helping to grow the sport and help people become better bowlers. Mike is a firm believer in giving back to bowlers in the sport that he loves. Part of how he does that is to run fun programs like Strike It Rich, Friday Night Fights and the Draft League. Mike and his shops make no money off these programs - 100% goes back to the bowlers.
In December 2017, Mike was awarded the Pat Patterson Award by the Southwest Region of the PBA. This award is not awarded every year, but is given to the PBA member who does something to exhibit sportsmanship and advance the sport of bowling. Mike donated one of his 300 game rings to a Special Olympics bowler who shot 300.
In addition to supporting the sport, Mike's two favorite charities are PugHearts of Houston Pug Rescue and Autism awareness. Pugs are Mike's favorite dog breed (he owns 2 currently), and so many of his friends and customers have been affected by Autism, Mike raises awareness by wearing the signature Autism puzzle piece on his jersey whenever possible.
Bowling Dynamix is located exclusively inside Emerald Bowl in Houston at 9307 Boone Road.
Stop in see Mike, his wife Lisa and sons Zachary and Clayton. If you're lucky you may get to meet William Titus - head of R&D at the shop (we are the only shop around with an R&D department!). Enjoy the large, open shop and friendly atmosphere designed to make even the novice bowler feel comfortable while offering the best customer service and precision drilling. Mike Austin wouldn't have it any other way.
